Image to embroidery file converter
Upload a logo, icon or drawing as SVG, PNG or JPG. We trace images into clean flat-colour shapes, then digitize them with layered satin outlines, underlay and pull compensation, ready for PES, DST, JEF and five more formats.
- SVG, PNG, JPG and WebP
- Background removed for you
- Quality report with every design
What works best
Logos and icons
A few flat colours and clear shapes digitize beautifully. SVG is ideal, a clean PNG is next best.
Drawings with outlines
Cartoon-style art with a dark outline becomes satin outlines over flat fills, our house style.
Big enough details
Anything thinner than about 0.8 mm at your size is merged away or thickened, so tiny text and hairlines disappear.
What doesn’t work (yet)
- Photos, watercolours and soft gradients: they have thousands of shades that can’t become a few thread colours. The tool tells you when an image is too complex.
- Small text inside a logo: set names and words with the monogram maker instead, where lettering is digitized from real fonts.
- Light outlines: only dark lines are recognised as outlines; light ones become colour areas.
How image to embroidery works
Upload
An SVG, PNG, JPG or WebP file. Choose the size, the number of thread colours and how to treat the outline.
Trace and clean up
For images we remove the background, reduce the colours to threads, rebuild outlines as even strokes and trace everything into smooth vector shapes. SVG files skip this step.
Digitize
Our digitizer sews fills back to front, then layered satin outlines on top, with underlay, pull compensation and hidden travel, at the exact size you chose.
Check it and download
See the vector, a realistic thread render, the stitch-out and the quality report, then download your files.
Questions about converting images to embroidery
Can I turn a photo into embroidery?
Not with this tool. A photo has thousands of shades that don’t map to a few thread colours, so the result would be a blur of stitches. Logos, icons and drawings with a few flat colours work best. No artwork? Describe your idea to the AI generator.
Why is SVG better than PNG?
An SVG already contains clean shapes, so nothing is lost on the way to stitches. A PNG or JPG has to be traced first, and blurry edges or JPG noise can turn into extra shapes.
What does the outline setting do?
Keep uses the dark outline already in your image. Add draws a clean dark outline around the shape and between colours, like our library designs. None gives you colour areas only.
How many thread colours should I choose?
As few as the design needs. Two to four colours suit most logos; up to eight is possible. Every colour is a thread change at the machine, and close shades merge into one thread anyway.
Is my upload private?
Yes. Your file is used only to make your design and is deleted from our servers within 24 hours. The finished design is private to your account.
