How the monogram maker works
Type and choose
Initials or a name, a font, a frame and a thread colour. The preview uses the real font, so what you see is what we shape.
Real lettering, not a picture
We shape your text like a typesetter: kerning, ligatures and joined script letters come straight from the font, then each line is laid out at your size.
Satin that follows the pen
Every letter is digitized in lettering mode: satin columns run along each pen stroke, thin hairlines tuck under thick strokes, and every part ends with lock stitches and a trim.
Check it and download
See a realistic thread render and the stitch-out, then download PES, DST, JEF, EXP, VP3, XXX, U01 or PEC, or the ZIP with all formats.

Monogram tips
- Fine calligraphy needs room: below its minimum letter height the thin strokes and small loops close up.
- On towels, use a water-soluble topping so the satin sits on top of the loops instead of sinking in. More in our towel guide.
- For T-shirts and other knits choose “T-shirt or knit” under Sewn on: we add pull compensation for stretchy fabric.
- Classic monograms use the last-name initial in the middle, larger than the other two.
Questions about embroidery monograms
What is the order of a three-letter monogram?
Traditionally the first-name initial on the left, the last-name initial larger in the middle and the middle-name initial on the right. Type the three initials into their boxes and the maker places them in that order.
Which characters can I use?
All fonts cover the letters of English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Polish and the Nordic languages, including æ, ø, å, ä, ö, ü, ß, ł and accented vowels. If a font can’t write a character, the design stops with a message naming it and your credit is refunded.
How small can lettering be?
It depends on the font: from 8 mm letter height for the varsity font Graduate to 20 mm for the finest calligraphy. The maker shows each font’s range and warns you before you start.
