Sports embroidery designs

Soccer balls and basketballs, dumbbells, skis, surfboards, road bikes, fishing lures and riding helmets: our sports embroidery designs cover the games and gear people love. Stitch them on team bags, towels, caps and tees. Many designs are free, and you choose the file type at download: PES, DST, JEF, EXP, VP3 and more.

Tip: to stitch in your club's colors, check the thread chart and swap colors before you start.

Games, gear and outdoor sports

The ball sports designs hold soccer balls, basketballs, baseballs and volleyballs. Dumbbells, kettlebells, running shoes and yoga poses are in the fitness and gym designs, and skis, snowboards, ice skates and sleds in the winter sports designs.

On the water, the water sports designs bring surfboards, kayaks, swimmers and paddleboards, while road and mountain bikes ride in the cycling designs. The section also covers fishing and hunting motifs such as leaping fish, lures and antlers, equestrian gear like riding helmets and rosettes, and skateboards for street skaters.

No logos, your own names

These sports embroidery designs are original drawings of the sport itself, never team logos, league marks or club crests, which belong to their owners. To make an item your team's own, add the player's name with the lettering maker and stitch it in the team colors. A ball, a name and a number make a clean, classic look for bags and towels.

Sportswear and gear: what to use

  • Polyester jerseys and technical tees: a no-show mesh cut-away and a ballpoint needle. Pick a lighter design for very thin fabric.
  • Cotton team tees and hoodies: a medium cut-away, hooped without stretching.
  • Sports towels: a water-soluble topping on the terry and a tear-away below.
  • Duffel and gear bags: hoop a sticky stabilizer and float the bag panel, so the hoop leaves no marks on coated fabric.
  • Caps: a cap frame and a tear-away cap backing, with a design that fits the frame's sewing field.

Size follows the spot: a 70 mm (2.8 in) ball suits a sleeve or the side of a small bag, the 95 mm size sits well on the left chest, and the 125 mm size fills the end of a duffel bag.

Teams, coaches and school clubs

A full set for a team is easy to plan: the same motif on every towel, a name for each player, and a bigger version on the coach's bag. Order thread in the team colors in advance and stitch one sample for approval before you start the whole run.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have team logos or club crests?

No. Team logos, club crests and league marks are protected trademarks, so we only draw generic sports motifs: balls, gear and athletes. For a team look, combine a ball with the team name and add a jersey number from our number designs, all stitched in the team colors.

Can I sell team shirts or club bags made with these designs?

Yes, with a commercial license. Free designs are licensed for personal use, which covers your own family and gifts. To sell stitched shirts, towels or bags to a club, a school or customers, choose a plan with a commercial license on the pricing page.

Do you have equestrian and horse riding designs?

Yes. Riding helmets, rosettes, horseshoes and show jumpers are collected in the equestrian designs, made for saddle pads, stable bags and riders' gifts. Horses on their own, such as horse heads, ponies and foals, are in the horse section under animals.

Are there fishing and hunting designs for caps?

Yes. Leaping fish, lures, rods, antlers and duck motifs in the fishing and hunting designs are mostly horizontal shapes, which suit the curved front of a cap. Choose a motif that stays within the flat middle of the front panel, and stitch a test on a spare cap if the crown is very stiff.
