Fitness & gym embroidery designs

Dumbbells, kettlebells, running shoes and calm yoga poses: these fitness and gym embroidery designs are made for gym towels, duffel bags, workout tees and yoga mat bags. Many are free, and every design comes as a PES, DST or JEF file, with EXP and VP3 too. Tip: on stretchy activewear, choose a small design, because a large filled area makes the fabric stiff in that spot.

Our fitness and gym embroidery designs cover strength, running and calm: dumbbells and kettlebells for the weight room, running shoes for the trail or the track, and yoga poses for the mat. If you are looking for a lotus or a yin yang for a yoga bag, the peace and zen designs are next door, and short motivational words are in the word and quote designs.

Gym towels are usually terry or microfiber. If the towel has a flat woven band near one end, stitch the design there; on plain terry, add a water-soluble topping and a tear-away below. Polyester thread holds up best to sweat and hot washes.

The 70 mm dumbbell fits that towel band or a small zip pouch, and the 125 mm kettlebell or yoga pose suits the side of a duffel bag or a canvas yoga mat bag.

Frequently asked questions

Can I embroider leggings or other stretchy activewear?

You can, but keep the design small and light. Use a fusible no-show mesh cut-away so the fabric cannot stretch in the hoop, and a ballpoint needle. Place the motif where the fabric stretches least, such as near the waistband or on a hip panel, because the stitched area will no longer stretch with the rest.

Can I add a race name and date to a running shoe design?

Yes. Build the race name and date in our monogram and lettering maker, then place it under the shoe on your machine's screen or in a second hooping. On a technical race shirt, use a no-show mesh cut-away and keep the lettering simple so it stays readable on the thin fabric.
