Peace & zen embroidery designs

Yin yang circles, lotus flowers, evil eyes, hamsa hands and peace signs: these peace and zen embroidery designs are made for yoga bags, meditation cushions and relaxed weekend tees. Free peace symbols come in every common format, including PES, JEF, VP3 and DST. Round symbols show every hooping mistake, so hoop knit fabric smooth but never pulled.

This page collects calm symbols with a meaning. The yin yang and the peace sign are bold and graphic, the lotus adds soft petal shapes, and the evil eye and the hamsa are protective symbols with a long history in many cultures. Follow the thread chart, or re-color them to match a yoga mat, a bedroom or a favorite hoodie.

For yoga and gym bags in canvas or cotton duck, a medium tear-away is enough. Embroider meditation cushions and floor pillows before you sew the cover together, with cut-away under dense fills. On T-shirts, the yin yang reveals hooping problems first: if the knit was stretched in the hoop, the circle turns oval once you release it.

Peace signs pair well with rainbow designs for a retro look. Yoga poses and gym motifs have their own page with fitness and gym designs.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my yin yang design come out oval instead of round?

The fabric was most likely stretched while hooping and relaxed after you took it out. Hoop knits smooth but not taut, bond them to a fusible or sticky cut-away to stop any shifting, and never tug the shirt tighter once it is clamped in the hoop.

Can I embroider a meditation cushion that is already sewn?

Yes, if you can open a zipper or a seam and hoop only the top layer. Otherwise hoop a sheet of stabilizer, fix the cover on it with temporary spray adhesive and check that the back layer stays well out of the sewing area before you start.
