Every face here is our own drawing in an emoji style, not a copy of any phone or app emoji set. Round yellow faces are the classic, next to winks, sleepy faces and faces with hearts for eyes. A retro smiley works well on a sweatshirt or a tote bag, while a row of mixed emoji suits a pencil case or a kid's backpack.
Because each face is one large fill with small features on top, careful hooping matters more than the size you choose. Use no-show mesh cut-away on tees, a medium tear-away on canvas and denim, and a water-soluble topping on fleece so the smile does not sink. Highlights and other small details sew on top at the end, so they stay sharp.
