Water sports embroidery designs

Surfboards, kayaks, swimmers and paddleboards: these water sports embroidery designs belong on pool towels, swim bags, surf caps and club shirts. Water sports embroidery designs here show the action on the water: boards, paddles, kayaks and swimmers. For the sea itself, browse the beach and ocean designs, and for sailboats the boat designs, so a lake or surf theme is easy to build from both sections.

Changing ponchos and pool towels are terry: cover the front with a water-soluble topping and hoop a tear-away below. For a swim team, stitch the same swimmer on every towel in the club colors, and each family can spot their towel on a crowded bench. Kayak and paddleboard clubs can do the same with one motif on every member's cap or hoodie.

A swimmer at 95 mm sits nicely on a towel border, while the kayak needs the 125 mm size to fill a canvas swim bag or a cushion for the lake cabin.

Frequently asked questions

Can I embroider a dry bag or a waterproof bag?

It is better not to. Every needle hole goes through the waterproof layer, so a dry bag or a phone pouch would no longer keep water out. Stitch the kayak or the surfboard on the canvas tote you pack, a cap or a towel instead, and keep the dry bag plain.

Can I stitch a surf design on a trucker hat?

Yes, on the foam or cotton front panel. The mesh back cannot hold stitches well, so keep the design centered on the front. Use a cap frame if you have one, with a tear-away cap backing behind the foam, and slow the machine down because the front can flex as the needle goes in.
