Sweets & dessert embroidery designs

Sweets and dessert embroidery designs with frosted cupcakes, sprinkled donuts, ice cream cones and wrapped candy, drawn in house in pastel pinks, mint and cream. Get them free or premium in PES, DST, JEF, EXP, VP3 or PEC for your machine.

Pastel threads look soft on white and gray fabric but fade into cream, so pick a background with some contrast.

These sweets and dessert embroidery designs are cheerful and simple: a cupcake with swirled frosting, a donut with sprinkles, an ice cream cone and candy in twisted wrappers. Sprinkles and the cherry on top come last in the sewing order, so they sit crisply on the frosting. Each design page shows the thread chart in sewing order, so you can see when the pink frosting and the sprinkles come up and have the right spools ready.

A 70 mm donut suits a toddler's tee or a party favor bag, while a 125 mm cupcake covers the front of a bakery apron in a 5x7 hoop. Birthday shirts, bake sale totes, kitchen towels and pastel pillow covers all suit these sweets.

Cupcakes with candles fit the birthday designs, and croissants, pies and bread are in the baking designs. Ice cream and popsicles also belong to the summer designs.

Frequently asked questions

Are dessert designs good for beginners?

Yes. Most of them use a handful of colors and simple shapes, so there are few thread changes and little to go wrong. The design page shows a stitch-out animation and the thread chart in sewing order, so you know what comes next. Start on a stable cotton with a tear-away before you try knits or towels.

Can I make a birthday shirt with a cupcake design?

Yes. Stitch the cupcake on a cotton tee with a no-show mesh cut-away and a ballpoint needle, then add the child's name or age with the monogram and lettering maker. Put the name above or below the cupcake in the same hooping, and stitch a week ahead so there is time for a test on a spare shirt.
