Dog embroidery designs

Dog embroidery designs for every dog person: long dachshunds, fluffy corgis, puppies with bones and simple paw prints, all with a dark satin outline and flat thread colors. Every dog downloads free or premium as PES, JEF, EXP, VP3, XXX or DST, so you can stitch it on almost any home machine.

Stitch dog bandanas before you hem them: a flat piece of cotton is much easier to hoop than a finished triangle.

These dog embroidery designs focus on character: the long body of a dachshund, the big ears of a corgi and the happy face of a puppy with a bone. Darker coats show best on light fabric, while a cream or white dog stands out on a navy or red bandana. Paw prints are the simplest motif here and stitch quickly on almost anything.

The 70 mm dachshund fits the point of a small dog's bandana, and the 125 mm version suits a big dog's bandana or the corner of a fleece pet blanket. Good projects also include leash bags, treat pouches, a groomer's apron and sweatshirts for proud owners.

For a holiday stocking for the family pet, pair a puppy with the Christmas designs and start in October. Cat people in the house can find their own match in the cat designs.

Frequently asked questions

How do I embroider a dog bandana?

Embroider the cotton before you hem or sew the bandana, so it lies flat in the hoop. Place the dog a little above the point of the triangle, so it shows when the bandana is tied. Use a tear-away on firm cotton or a light cut-away on thin fabric, and hoop it drum-tight without stretching the diagonal edge.

Can I get an embroidery design of my dog's breed?

This category covers dachshunds, corgis and playful puppies. If your breed is not here, describe your dog to the AI design generator, for example 'a black and white border collie with one ear up', and it creates an original design in the same style, ready for your machine.

Can I add my dog's name to a dog design?

Yes. Create the name with the monogram and lettering maker and stitch it as a second file under the dog without unhooping, so the two stay aligned. Keep the name to one short line in block or script letters, and check that the dog and the name together fit inside your hoop.
