What is the best way to embroider a beach towel?
If the towel has a flat woven band near one end, stitch on that band, where the surface is smooth. On the loops, lay a water-soluble topping on top and a tear-away or cut-away underneath, and float the thick towel on hooped stabilizer rather than forcing it into the hoop. Polyester thread stands up to sun, salt water and hot washes.
Can I put a sea creature on a hooded baby towel?
Yes. Stitch it on the hood piece before the hood is sewn on, or unpick the hood seam a little so the hood lies flat in the hoop. Use a water-soluble topping over the terry and a tear-away or cut-away below, and add a soft fusible cover if the back of the stitching touches the baby's head.
