Leaf & branch embroidery designs

Leaf and branch embroidery designs for a calm, green look: monstera leaves, eucalyptus stems, olive branches, fern sprigs and oak leaves, drawn in house with satin veins and a dark outline. Free and premium greenery files come as PES, DST, JEF, EXP and VP3, with an all-formats ZIP if you share files between machines.

A small sprig has few stitches, so on a knit tee a light no-show mesh cut-away is all the support it needs.

These leaf and branch embroidery designs cover houseplants and garden greenery: a split monstera leaf, round eucalyptus leaves on a stem, an olive branch, a curled fern and oak leaves for fall. They use two or three greens with a dark outline, and the veins are satin lines sewn on top of the fill, so they stay raised and visible.

A 70 mm olive sprig suits the left chest of a minimalist tee, while the 125 mm monstera leaf fills a cushion cover or a tote bag in a 5x7 hoop. On linen napkins, an apron for a plant lover or a table runner, a row of small sprigs looks calm and modern.

Oak leaves fit the fall designs, clovers belong with the St. Patrick's Day designs, and eucalyptus and olive sprigs dress up napkins and ring pillows from the wedding designs.

Frequently asked questions

How do I place a small leaf design on the chest of a T-shirt?

Fold the shirt in half lengthwise and press a crease to find the center, then mark the spot on the left chest with a water-soluble pen. Hoop with a no-show mesh cut-away, line up the needle with your mark, and check that the sprig sits straight to the crease. A slight tilt can look good, as long as it is on purpose.

Can I stitch a leaf design in one color?

Yes. For a tone-on-tone look, keep the same green thread at every color stop instead of changing it: the machine pauses, and you simply continue. The outline can stay black or switch to a darker green for a softer effect. The thread chart on the design page shows how many color stops there are.
