Rose embroidery designs

Rose embroidery designs with single long-stem roses, rosebuds and full sprays, drawn in house in reds, pinks and greens with a dark satin outline. Choose a free or premium rose and download it as PES for Brother, JEF for Janome, EXP for Bernina or VP3 for Husqvarna Viking and Pfaff.

For white bedding and napkins, stitch red roses with 40 wt polyester: it is colorfast and tolerates bleach.

A rose is a spiral of petals, and these rose embroidery designs keep that spiral readable by sewing the petal outlines in tiers, each tucked under the next. Stems carry a leaf or two, and the slim rosebuds fit narrow spaces.

A 70 mm rosebud fits a handkerchief or a napkin corner, while the 125 mm spray suits the hem band of a pillowcase. Try one on a ring pillow, a guest towel or the chest of a sweatshirt. For a set of napkins, stitch every rosebud in the same corner and turned the same way, so the set looks even when the napkins are folded on the table.

With its dark outline, a single rose also has the bold look of a classic tattoo rose, which suits denim jackets and canvas bags. Roses are the classic flower for Valentine's Day designs and anniversaries, and they combine well with rings and doves from the wedding designs.

Frequently asked questions

Where should I place a rose on a pillowcase?

Place it on the hem band near the open end, not in the middle where your face rests. Slide the hoop inside the pillowcase so you stitch through one layer only, and use a light cut-away or tear-away behind the cotton. Center the rose on the band and keep it clear of the seam.

Which rose designs suit a wedding handkerchief?

A small rosebud or a slim spray in one corner looks elegant and leaves room for initials or a date. Fine cotton and linen handkerchiefs need a light tear-away or a water-soluble stabilizer that leaves no stiff patch. Create the initials and the date with the monogram and lettering maker.
